A semi-automatic rifle, pitched down 3 semi-tones. Made in bitwig, i used 10 different recorded gunshot layers that have been eq'ed and multiband compressed to form a new gun sound. Subbass was synthesized for the super low end. The process i use is to select frequencies using high pass and lowpass filters from a recording for the lows, mids and highs. This forms a "layered sound".

These recordings were made during a location-scouting trip i took some time ago to southern germany, where we had a look at some cathedrals to shoot a documentary. I took the time to record a few atmos with my handy h2. . . This is a very touristy sort of restaurant in the center of the historical town of speyer, featuring people talking in various languages, restaurant noises and, last but not least, no background music!.

It's a recording of a medium-sized dog's yelping. The dog also repeatedly sneezes from 1:15 on. The dog was longing for it's master, i did not do any harm to it otherwise than mercifully recording funny (in my opinion) sounds it made instead of saying words of support. I don't feel guilty. Recorded with a hand-held zoom h2 in 48khz/24-bit wav, edited, normalized and converted to flac using audacity.

This is a small clip which i made playing the original video on my laptop and recording it on my cell phone. There is a noise machine on and a voice distortion tool being used and foreground dialog as well. It's the whispered dialog that is crucial in my quest for justice. An interesting sound from a house we were staying at. The outdoor exhaust for the clothes dryer made this jet like noise, particularly when the microphone was moved around it. There are some bird and mower noises in the background, but this really just wants to be the basis for some cool sound design jets, whooshes, turbines, etc. Play with it and make something cool. Recorded with a zoom h1n, 24-bit, 48khz, stereo. Cleaned up a bit in izotope rx.

Took a drum loop and pitched out 3 different layers of itself, one at half speed an octave down, one at quarter speed 2 octaves down, and one on top that starts out chopped up into separated transients and returns to full speed at the end. I originally made this to be 3 different levels of progression for a backing drum-loop, with the first section being the buildup, the second as the transition/windup, and the third as the breakdown.

I steve reiched a 'tune' i made with the celeste sample from my edirol orchestral plug-in and i think it makes good atmospheric music for a variety of things, depending on where you are in the track. It only really gets going from about 1:35 but after that i think it makes good fairy tale, horror, meditation, relaxation and mystical/cosmic soundtracks.

Made from a tom drum i created with xfer serum in reaper. Rendered the instrument as audio, then, sampled a small section of the tom and looped it infinitely to create a static frequency. Then i added the reapitch vst and created a smooth automation curve down to -24 semitones. Lastly, i added a short fade in and long fade out.

This is me playing around with my various string instruments. I decided to try to create a creepy string texture-ish sound, but it came out sounding like a haunted string orchestra. I hope you like it. I used a foot-long violin, a full-sized violin, a ukulele, and my father's home-made frettless banjo-thing.

Inspired by ben croshaw's point 'n' click horror adventure games, i decided i'd try and see if i can make my own creepy whispers using audacity. This is basically some whispered lines and some really low-volume screams superimposed on one another, with some of these lines reversed. I made this on march 2012 and was recorded on my netbook's slightly damaged built-in mic.

Sound synthesis made from chuck programming language. The model is a connection from an impulse generator to 40 digital filters to 40 delay linesand set feedback between each delay lines. Each delay lines's delay time and cutoff frequency is random. But there was an error in the calculation and the output value overflows. And this create a chaotic behavior in this sample. - - -. This one is a smooth rising soundwith alternating digital aliasing resonances at the end.

This is another loop i made with some software i'm cooking up for unity (to allow users to make short loops like this and embed them in their games without necessarily rendering them to wav/mp3's first). Engorged by seasonal precipitation this large heritage river churns into a narrow bedrock canyon, turns, and comes out of the turn charging. This is where the recording was made, at river level.
