This is an underwater ambient loop i created for a game-jam project. Since the project was nothing but good fun, i have uploaded some of the more useful sounds to freesound. Org for everyone to use. The sound was created by layering hydrophone recordings with filtered noise.

Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

I composed a fairly long midi loop of chord progressions & let each section repeat twice. Then i layered a bunch of return tracks of the same line with arpegiated outputs played with straight, quarter note swing eight note swing, 16th note swing, & 32nd note swing all played together. The output was then compressed, heavily chorused through multiple fx devices, and stereo panned into the nonsense you hear. All frequencies below 1 khz (lowend) and above 8 khz (highend) have been filtered out and the volume has been normalized. I release this sound as cc0. Tips & tricks for professional mastering of dark ambient loops:. ~ (range) 1200 - 8000 hz, the highmid area of all sounds. ~ (gate) filtering in and adding subtle noise in this frequency range can addatmosphere or "air" to dark ambience but sound noisy like a tape recording. ~ (filter) filtering out noise in this frequency range can make the bass andlower frequencies (20-1000 hz) in dark ambience sound clearer but more dull. ~ (highend) frequencies above 8 khz should always be filtered out completelyand muted to 0 db, since those are only necessary in music and higher sounds.

This is a short loop i made with a cassette tape head as a pickup on a single guitar string across a plank of wood and played with a plastic fishing discorger like a hammered dulcimer. Fed through my nux mfx-10 effects pedal into a boss loopstation and then recorded into reaper.

Formatted for the make noise morphagene. This reel consists of a spliced breakbeat. The final splice is the whole loop without any splices. Trashy drum kit, recorded by me, re-sequenced with elektron octatrack and played through a crappy speaker.

This is from a library of sounds i call "pet sounds", after the plastic material pet that's mainly used for water bottles. This library contains various sounds/loops created by using waste plastic in an attempt to give this noxious material at least some useful purpose by acoustically "upcycling" it.
