I recorded this sound on a beach in normandy. It is a close recording of waves crashing on the sand. You can hear the different sounds produced by the water, and the ambiant atmosphere of an oceanside. After recording this sound, i improved it on audacity. I reduced the noice and the wind, then i add a fade in and fade out to make it smoother. This sound is very relaxing and satisfying.

I have an antique cherry cabinet that is at least three times my age. The door has a slight twist to it, and it keeps opening itself. The door catches of yesteryear had a metal prong that pushed two rollers apart. This catch pre-dates that, it's all about springy metal that bows out of the way. And this is the sound it makes when you close it.

For a production of the play ripcord a performer goes off stage to fill a watering can. Once with the door left open, and once with the door closed. So i made a couple of recordings, and play the sound as long as needed.

Kittens: the screeching of 3 week old kittens is very distinct. Real kittens can be heard here. It is high-pitched and a “close-up” of these sounds coming from these tiny creatures. This a simple sound i recorded from my "master lock hard case" combination lock. I used audacity for noise reduction and editing. I couldn't find a good, free combination lock sound, so i decided to make my own :).

Two sustained voice samples i subsequently pitch shifted and layered for an ambient work (to achieve an 80's choir pad effect). The key is almost in middle c, but slightly off. . . Because i can't sing. The second, lower voice sample was recorded extremely close to the mic to achieve clipping; i wanted to get a buzzy, boomy sound out of it.

My window air-conditioner on the fan setting. Fan turns on for a few secs and shuts off. Recorded on yeti usb microphone on the stereo setting. Microphone was placed about 6 inches from the unit, right below the top vents where the air comes out. Some very low frequency rumble was attenuated slightly.

It sounds like a the last few strokes of a saw going into a rusted metal pipe with water on the inside. It's actually the sound of pulling closed my sink stopper. . . Go figure. This is a foley recording i did for a cinematic nature documentary. In the scene you see lions pulling the guts out of a recently killed bison. This sound is a katana sword being swung close to the microphone it was recorded in a gym. It was recorded using a zoom h1 with foam windscreen attached. The clip was cleaned up (removed air condition sound) in adobe audition cs6. You can hear some handling of the sword at some points. Some swings have a higher pitch than others but this is the real thing.

Field recording of diamond lake a few hours before a storm hit that forced all boats to dock. This is in late may of 2022. On a hike at the north end of the lake, i stood at the edge of the water and held my recorder close to the growing waves.
